ODAR Office Locator

If you are appealing a denied Disability claim, you’ll likely be making a trip in the near future to the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review – ODAR for short. This is where an Administrative Law Judge will personally hear your case to determine if you should be awarded Social Security Disability benefits.

More than 1400 Administrative Law Judges work in 168 ODAR hearing offices across the country. Last year alone, they decided more than 500,000 Disability appeals.  Your Disability hearing will most likely be held in the ODAR office closest to your home.

Because there is a backlog of cases, you will probably have to wait several months before you will have your Disability hearing. Exactly how long depends on which city and state your case is assigned. Currently, the national average wait time for a hearing is about 15 months.

Likewise, approval rates differ from state to state. The national approval rate for a Disability hearing is about 45 percent. (Hawaii and Puerto Rico have the highest approval rates at 62 percent and 60 percent, respectively. Alaska has the worst approval rate at about 20 percent.)

When it comes to getting Social Security Disability benefits, nothing is simple― including figuring out where to go and what to expect in a Disability hearing. That’s why we’ve tried to take some of the guesswork out of it.

If you have questions or need legal help, feel free to give us a call at 855-702-9061. We know how to help you get Disability benefits. It’s what we do.
