Battling colon cancer – and struggling financially?

Get disability for colon cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer, along with rectal cancer, is the fourth most common form of cancer in America today. In 2016, there are estimated to be around 130,000 new cases of colorectal cancer.

Need Disability for Colon Cancer? SSDHelpNow.com

If you’ve been diagnosed with colon cancer and have been (or will be) out of work for at least a year, there’s a strong chance that the Social Security Administration (SSA) may award you disability for colon cancer.

Some colon cancer disability claims will be automatically approved by the SSA. Others may require more work and supporting documentation.

The process of obtaining disability for colon cancer can drag on for months, but gravely ill individuals often cannot wait that long for benefits to be approved. The Social Security Administration (SSA) recognizes this fact. In 2008, the SSA established a “Compassionate Allowances” program and identified certain types of debilitating diseases that should automatically be approved for disability benefits.

Advanced stages of colon cancer fall into this category. The SSA reviews colon cancer applications under the listing in Section 13.18. If your colon cancer meets the following criteria, your disease is considered a “Compassionate Allowances Condition” and you should obtain disability benefits fairly quickly:

  • Your tumor must be an adenocarcinoma that is
    • Recurrent (came back after remission)
    • Inoperable (cannot be treated by surgery), or
    • Unresectable (could not be entirely removed by surgery)
  • Tour tumor must be a squamous cell carcinoma of the anus that has returned despite surgery
  • Your cancer must have spread beyond the lymph nodes closest to the originating tumor

Even if you may qualify with a “Compassionate Allowances Condition” it would be in your best interest to have your case managed by a Social Security disability professional. The experienced staff and attorneys at McDonald Law Firm will thoroughly and accurately prepare and file your disability claim and work to obtain your benefits as quickly as possible.

What if your colon cancer doesn’t meet the disability listing criteria?

Don’t give up on getting the disability benefits you need. If you can show that your condition or your treatment prohibits you from working any job, you still might qualify for disability for colon cancer.

Proving you are unable to work can be technical and complicated ― and it is best left to someone with experience. The disability team at McDonald Law Firm knows the ins and outs in  all areas of disability law and we want to help you get the benefits you need.

Denied disability for colon cancer? It’s not over.

Understandably, many people’s reaction to rejection is to just give up. However, that is the worst thing you can do when seeking Disability benefits. The truth of the matter is that most people ― more than 65 percent ― are denied Disability benefits during the initial application phase.

Approval rates actually go up further into the Social Security Disability process. The key is to promptly file an appeal (you only have 60 days to file an appeal after receiving your denial letter) and keep fighting for benefits. Now would also be the time to enlist the services of an experienced Disability lawyer if you haven’t already done so.

A lawyer will be able to determine the reason for your denial and work to overcome any obstacles. The McDonald Law Firm disability attorneys know what it takes to successfully appealdenied Disability claims.

We don’t get paid unless you win benefits.

One of the main reasons people don’t hire a Disability attorney is because they don’t think they can afford one. They are surprised to learn that hiring us doesn’t cost anything up front.

We work on a contingency fee basis, which means we don’t collect unless we win your case. Even then, our fees are capped by the federal government and taken directly out of a portion of the back pay award. If we aren’t successful, you don’t owe us a penny.

An experienced Disability attorney can cut through the red tape and get you the benefits you so desperately need. It doesn’t matter where you are in the process, we can help. Call us today at 877-568-5413 and we will get to work for you.
